HoMM: Olden Era will launch into Early Access on April 30th 2026

Unfrozen studio has announced that Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era will launch into Early Access on April 30, 2026. More than a decade has passed since the last installment in the series, and the team considers it an honor to contribute a new chapter to the legendary legacy that generations of players grew up with.

According to Unfrozen, the Early Access version will include a substantial amount of content, offering both classic gameplay and new features:

  • Six unique factions: Temple, Dungeon, Schism, Grove, Necropolis, and Hive
  • An in-game tutorial
  • The first act of the campaign, with additional acts planned for the full release
  • Premade scenarios with self-contained stories, with more to be added during Early Access
  • Classic, Single Hero, and Arena modes, available in both single-player and multiplayer
  • Matchmaking, ranked play, and leaderboards for all three multiplayer modes
  • A wide variety of Random Map Generator templates for strong replayability
  • Hotseat mode, allowing players to take turns on a single PC
  • A series of puzzle-style challenges
  • A pre-release version of a map editor for creating custom adventures

Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era is the official prequel hailing back to the origins of the genre-defining, critically acclaimed series of turn-based strategy games. Raise grand armies and wield devastating spells to overcome your foes in both solo and multiplayer.

Somehow I’m not excited about this one. HoMM3 is still the most fun version for me. I’d rather punish myself with HoMM4 than play Olden Era.
