The Lost Tales mod adds the possibility to freely switch between alternative upgrades for certain creatures in their respective town or at the Hill Fort.
The goal is to make some factions a bit more competitive while preserving the original gameplay experience. Choosing an alternative upgrade is completely optional, it simply provides additional strategic flexibility.
To maintain the authentic feel of the base game, no original creature stats have been changed. The only exceptions apply to certain neutral creatures that are affiliated with specific factions. For example, the Boar is aligned with the Stronghold and has the same cost as the Wolf Raider, making the alternative upgrade entirely free.
The mod is fully compatible with Tides of War and Horn of the Abyss VCMI version (highly recommended for the best experience). TOW creatures have been slightly balanced to make them more competitive.
The Lost Tales modalso includes:
- New neutral creatures
- New heroes
- New models for selected creatures
- HD portraits and newly created portraits for the mod
- Full integration with HotA and ToW content

Hi, thank you for that awesome mod. I like it. But if only i could to propose, pls add alternatives for Castle – Paladins instead of Monks, upgraaded Champions and Seraphs and Cherubins as Angel’s and Archangel’s upgrades.
I found few bugs.
1) when upgrade orc tower. All kind of orc weekly increase become zero.
2) something wrong with cantaur upgrade change functionality. They bacome battle dwarfs
3) I think the unicorn growth is somehow significantly overestimated.

The current version contains a bug. If we also have the TOW mod and build mechanical dragons, we can immediately buy their upgraded version.
