In every nine standard H3 town, you have oppurtunity to build one dwelling for altenative creature.
1. Alternative Faction Creatures
- Castle: Templar/Paladin (T7) – High-defense tank; alternative to Angel/Archangel.
- Rampart: Dryad/Oak Dryad (T4) – Nature support with Symbiosis; alternative to Pegasus/Silver Pegasus.
- Tower: Drake Golem/Dragon Golem (T7) – Fast mechanical melee (Speed 15); alternative to Giant/Titan.
- Inferno: Succubus/Lilim (T4) – Ranged unit with Charm; alternative to Demon/Horned Demon.
- Necropolis: Werewolf/Dire Werewolf (T4) – Offensive unit with Rage; alternative to Vampire/Vampire Lord.
- Dungeon: Illithid/Alhoon (T5) – Ranged mind-flayer caster; alternative to Minotaur/Minotaur King.
- Stronghold: Couatl/Quetzalcouatl (T6) – Evasive flying striker; alternative to Roc/Thunderbird.
- Fortress: Troll Hag/Troll Witch (T5) – Regenerating hybrid caster; alternative to Gorgon/Mighty Gorgon.
- Conflux: Triron/Abyssal Triton (T3) – Melee control with Trawl; alternative to Ice/Water Elemental.
2. New Neutral Creatures
- Demilich: Elite undead caster capable of devastating area-of-effect spells.
- Ghost: Soul-stealer that increases its stack size by killing living enemies.
- Mermaid: A sea-based neutral unit with protection against whirlpool.
- Dread Skipper: A powerful undead mariner that utilizes the Sorrow ability on hit.
3. New Skills
- Hexes: Reduces opponent’s Luck by 1,2 or 3.
- Intimidation: Reduces opponent’s Morale by 1,2 or 3.
4. Tides of War Creature Banks
- Seminarium: Defeat the Swordsman Templar guards to have a group of Templars join your army.
- Phantom Ship: Conquer the Dread Skipper guards to receive Gold and Dread Skipper recruits.
- Scriptorium: Overcome Monks to earn Gold, Artifacts and learn random Spells.
- Sorceress Castle: Prevail against elite magical defenders to claim significant Gold and resource/creature producing Artifacts.
- Outpost of Souls: Destroy the Ghost and Wraith defenders to earn Demiliches and a Phylacteries Relic.
- Bone Pillar: Defeat the Liches and Demiliches to obtain Gold Ghosts.
5. New Spells & Artifacts
- Vampirism (Water): Target becomes undead and gains the ability to drain life from enemies.
- Divine Arrows (Air): Grants shooters the ability to penetrate walls and fire additional shots.
- Aura of Power (Fire): A global enchantment that boosts the damage of all offensive spells.
- Intervention (Water): A high-tier magic spell that provides mass resurrection for living units.
- The Phylacteries: Unique relics that empower a hero to summon Demiliches directly into battle.
- Magic Wands: Versatile portable artifacts that allow for low-cost casting of specific combat spells.
WoG Folder – All HoMM mods in one place
Interesting choices for unit replacements. E.g. who needs werewolf when vamp is the best T4 in the game? And who needs Demon when they can get a useful ranged Succubus? Neither offers a real choice but at least Inferno gets buffed.
I would prefer more alternatives to useless slow units. Zombie, Treant, Golem, Hydra for example.
