Jon Van Caneghem returns as Creative Advisor for HoMM: Olden Era
The Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era demo has been available for some time now, and players have had the opportunity to explore everything new in the lands of Jadame. The development team is currently working tirelessly to improve the game based on valuable community feedback. While the developers have been busy polishing the code, a major surprise has also been in preparation behind the scenes.
Unfrozen is honored to announce that the founder of New World Computing and creator of the Might and Magic franchise — Jon Van Caneghem — has returned once again to contribute to the universe so many fans have come to love.
Mr. Van Caneghem has joined Unfrozen as a Creative Advisor, bringing his deep knowledge and insight from the early Might and Magic games to Olden Era. This marks his first involvement in the series since Heroes of Might and Magic IV. He will also share the experience he has gained over the years, dating back to Might and Magic: Book One.

“Hi! I’m Jon Van Caneghem, the creator of the original Might and Magic series and the founder of New World Computing! I’ll be teaming up with Unfrozen to advise them on game design, worldbuilding and other creative matters for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era!
It is a great pleasure to see the world I have built all those years ago thrive and be a part of so many people’s memories. I’m very glad to be able to contribute to it once again and walk this road with all of you who made Might and Magic into the legendary series it is today!
Olden Era is a work of love and passion from a team that truly knows its craft and I’m incredibly happy to be able to share my experience with them! The demo that Unfrozen prepared for everyone was an absolute delight that captures the original spirit of the series and I hope to see you all around once Olden Era is out in Early Access!”
