Jadame: Encyclopedia Entry

Jadame is one of the major continents in the world of Might and Magic, introduced in Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer and is the setting of Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era. It is characterized by its lawless nature, diverse geography, and powerful magical influences. Unlike the structured kingdoms of Enroth and Erathia, Jadame appears to be less human-dominated.
Dark Elves being prominent on the continent, as well as there being civilized populations of Minotaurs, Trolls, Dragons and Lizardfolk. Humans are found in Garrote Gorge (the Dragon Hunters), Murmurwoods (the Church of the Sun) and Shadowspire (the Necromancers’ Guild).
Historical Significance
Jadame is a land deeply tied to magical disturbances. The Day of the Destroyer event saw the destruction of the Crystal of Terrax, which resulted in a cataclysmic surge of elemental energy across the continent. This caused natural disasters, opened portals to the Elemental Planes, and further destabilized the already chaotic land.
Connection to Heroes of Might and Magic
While Jadame is primarily explored in the Might and Magic RPG series, some of its themes and factions have influenced the Heroes games. The necromancers of Shadowspire share similarities with the Necropolis faction, and the pirate elements of the Regna are reflected in the Cove faction from Horn of the Abyss.
Horn of the Abyss lore
The Halflings and other refugees fled to Burton after the Kreegan invasion of Eeofol. Due to their success, many other associated Factory towns began appearing throughout Jadame. The towns ultimately became known collectively as Terra Nova.
The Necromancers’ Guild was a coalition of necromancers on Enroth. Their agents could be found on all continents. The guild appears in Heroes of Might and Magic 2, 3, Might and Magic 6, 7, and 8, and is mentioned in Heroes of Might and Magic IV.
The Necromancers’ Guild in Jadame was based in Shadowspire, and was ruled by Sandro and Thant. Sandro said that, due to the guild’s diminished status on Enroth and Antagarich, “it could be argued that we speak for the guild worldwide“.
