Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake announced for 2027
Ubisoft has officially announced Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake, a modern reimagining of the legendary 1999 strategy game. The remake is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The game is being rebuilt from the ground up using Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine. The original fixed 2D isometric perspective will be replaced by a fully 3D world with a freely controllable camera. The visual overhaul will also include 4K graphics, dynamic lighting, real-time weather and changing seasons, bringing the world of Erathia to life in a completely new way.
Despite the visual changes, the remake will retain the core elements that made Heroes III so popular, including turn-based strategy, hero development, exploration and tactical grid-based combat. Ubisoft also promises quality-of-life improvements and new planning and decision-making tools designed to make the game more accessible while remaining faithful to the original.
The story will once again follow Queen Catherine’s campaign to restore order to Erathia following the assassination of her father and the invasion of the kingdom. Importantly for longtime fans, the remake will include the complete content of the original game together with both expansions, Armageddon’s Blade and The Shadow of Death, as well as all nine original factions and their campaigns.
Multiplayer will also return, with support for up to eight players, improved matchmaking and simultaneous turns. The popular Hot Seat mode will remain available as well.
Another particularly interesting feature is the planned support for community-created maps and campaigns, while updated editing tools and a new in-game UGC hub should make it easier to create, discover and share new content.
The announcement comes alongside the release of Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete on Steam, marking the first time the complete original version, including both expansions, has officially been released on the platform.
Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake is planned for release in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the game also being available through Ubisoft+.
