All Animal Studio is behind cinematic sequences for Heroes 3 Remake

Following Ubisoft’s official Gamescom reveal of Heroes of Might and Magic III: Remake, CGI animation studio All Animal Studio has unveiled its role as the creative agency behind the Restoration of Erathia campaign’s cinematic sequences.

Comprising 10 narrative scenes as visions from past events and combining into a 3-minute 42-second cinematic reimagining the iconic 1990s franchise lore through a modern, realistic CGI lens. The project marks a major milestone for the Prague-based studio, which brought classic universe icons to life from the ground up. Fans got a first glimpse of the cinematic and the updated look of Queen Catherine during the official announcement event at Gamescom 2026.

All Animal Studio developed a bespoke visual language that balances nostalgic design with modern high-end CGI.

“In accordance with the Ubisoft development team’s creative vision, our goal was to honor the emotional resonance of the original 90s cinematics while elevating them to contemporary visual standards,” says Marek Stolun, CEO and Lead Compositor at All Animal Studio. “We paid extreme attention to optical behavior by replicating real Canon lens characteristics, organic lens flares, chromatic aberration, and tactile color grading to ensure these dark fantasy scenes felt tangible, filmic, and stripped of digital sterility.”

“Creating Catherine’s 3D model was one of the highlights of the project.” adds Simon Lansky, Lead Character Artist. “Her design went through several iterations before we achieved the final look approved by the Heroes of Might and Magic III: Remake creative team. Direct translation from 2D artwork into a realistic 3D character is always a creative puzzle, but seeing her come to life in the cinematic makes all those hours of iteration entirely worth it.”

Ubisoft highlights the smooth dynamic and creative initiative that defined the entire production process.

“What impressed us most was their dedication to always go above and beyond,” says Eric Damian-Vernet, Brand Director at Ubisoft. “Instead of just sticking to the plan or delivering strictly what was asked, the team actively brought their own creative ideas to realize our true vision.”

For All Animal Studio, this project represents another prestigious collaboration with a major AAA gaming player, once again proving that even a small, lean team can execute massive and technically demanding productions at the highest level.

“What I enjoyed most was working in Houdini to automate the cloth and hair simulations,” says Jaroslav Novotny, Technical Director at All Animal Studio. “Building a system to handle complex intersections took time, but it allowed us to focus entirely on the art. This custom setup will also serve us in future projects.”

This proactive mindset helped build an open, highly efficient workflow that felt more like an internal creative team than an external agency.

“Working with All Animal Studio brings a truly refreshing approach. It feels like a breath of fresh air,” Eric Damian-Vernet, Brand Director at Ubisoft adds. “Beyond their technical setup, what we love most is the atmosphere. It is a genuine collaboration where we vibe and solve creative puzzles together as one team.”

“Producing this meant finding solutions to problems that didn’t have solutions yet,” says Julie Czigle, CGI Producer at All Animal Studio. “It was difficult, relentless, and genuinely one of the most rewarding things we’ve done. I’m incredibly proud of what this team pulled off.”

For the environment design, the studio focused on crafting diverse settings, from expansive atmospheric landscapes to intricate interior details.

“I worked on the environment design across a wide range of settings, including natural landscapes, fantasy castles, open oceans, and interiors,” says Jan Reeh, CGI Supervisor and Creative Director at All Animal Studio. “Each scene went through extensive iterations from blockout to detailed modeling, lookdev, and lighting to achieve the required cinematic scale and mood.”
