Fheroes 2 update v1.1.17 with Auto Playtest feature for the Map Editor
The fheroes2 team has released version 1.1.17 of the open-source engine, bringing improvements to nearly every aspect of the game along with a unique new feature.

The highlight of this release is the new Auto Playtest feature for the Editor. It allows map creators to automatically test their maps for balance, observe AI behavior, or simply watch the gameplay of their own creations without any interruptions. The Editor also now supports scrolling through objects within the same group using the mouse wheel, making map creation more convenient.
Another major focus of this update is the AI. Heroes now make smarter decisions on the Adventure Map by staying inside castles to gain movement bonuses, handling mirrored enemy armies more effectively during battles, and correctly using the Teleport spell on units affected by Berserk. In addition, AI turns are now even faster without changing gameplay behavior.
Version 1.1.17 also introduces several user interface improvements and performance optimizations. Battle Only mode received multiple bug fixes and minor UI enhancements, while the Adventure Map now features smooth scrolling. The Random Map Generator has been improved to prevent invalid object placement, and Android users can now extract all game assets directly from the GOG installer.
The development team also reduced startup times, particularly on low-end devices, and further optimized the engine’s RAM usage. Overall, more than 30 issues have been resolved since the previous release, making fheroes2 1.1.17 another significant update for the community.
