After many years since I bought Disciples 3 Renaissance I decided to give the game a try only to find out that I had the worst version available. The game was released in 3 versions: Renaissance, Resurrection and Reincarnation. What is even more strange, the game was published in long intervals between USA, Europe and Russia.

And what I don’t understand even more, all 3 versions can be purchased separately on STEAM, even though Reincarnation should be the last version, which contains everything that preceded it and fixes bugs.

Disciples III versions:

Disciples III: Renaissance

Disciples III: Renaissance was developed by .dat and published by Akella and Kalypso Media. The project was in development since the summer of 2005. The English version was released in Europe on June 25, 2010, and in North America on July 13, 2010. Renaissance uses .dat’s in-house Virtual Dream engine.

The game received more “mixed” reviews than the first two original Disciples games according to the review aggregation website Metacritic.

Disciples III: Resurrection

The Russian-language version of Disciples III: Resurrection was released featuring the ‘Undead Hordes‘ faction. It is available in either standard, gift pack, or deluxe editions. The English version was released in Europe on October 7, 2011, and in North America on February 7, 2012.

Disciples III: Reincarnation

Another iteration titled Disciples III: Reincarnation, is an updated version containing both the main game and expansion, featuring a new game engine and added content. The Russian version was released on April 11, 2012, while the English version was released via Steam on February 14, 2014.

Disciples 3 Remastered mod

Disciples 3 Remastered is an overhaul for Disciples III: Reincarnation (v1.03), it changes and remasters many game aspects. The heroes, battles and strategy are now perceived differently: in every game mechanic there is a choice, any decision has its advantages and disadvantages. In Disciples 3 Remastered, the following has been completely rethought and reworked:

• combat strategies and world map spells/runes;
• units and appropriate development trees/buildings in capitals;
• leaders/heroes and their abilities;
