Unofficial Factory update v2.0.3 + FAQ (VCMI)
While the mod add Factory town and its creatures, it’s different from the official HotA one and Ben Yan’s port. If you want to play original Factory town, I suggest you to use Ben Yan’s port. Mod differs from the official Factory by a lot. Most stats are made from the wiki info before the release, there are two third upgrade creatures and an alternative creature. Also you can build a second tier 2 dwelling to hire Rogues, who share their growth with growth of Mechanics.

Q: Why did you make that mod if the “official” Factory port exists in VCMI?
A: Well, actually my mod is older than Ben Yan’s port (I tried to make my own Factory from the old townscreen and showcased units before release, it was fall 2023). And during the summer of 2024, I decided to share my mod with the VCMI community (it was far better than the first version). Also a good thing is my mod works with the latest stable version of VCMI. So people who wait for the 1.6.0 release with Factory included, may use my mod as a replacement.
Q: Are you going to develop the mod further? If so, what will you do when “official” Factory will be released?
A: Yeah, I will support my mod further. Actually there is already a 1.6 branch of it (it’s the same as the 1.5 one), and I’m going to work on version for 1.6 later. And yeah, I thought about the “official” Factory, so the compatibility patch with that mod is in my plans actually.
Q: Why I cannot use Invincibility on Couatls/there are Rogue Cavern in town/Couatls and Dreadnoughts share growth?
A: Keep in mind, that is not a port of Factory. That’s a mod made using old townscreen and Factory creatures + old info that was previously collected on the H3 wiki. But that’s only the base. Stats, buildings, abilities and even heroes are different. The mod includes two third upgrade creatures, the Rogues could be hired in town alongside the Mechanics with shared growth, has a unique commander for WoG enjoyers, at last, there is an alternative creature in the form of Termotrons.
So the mod is actually different from the Ben Yan’s (and HotA’s) Factory by a lot. The only thing that’s not a feature in the last version is that Couatls and Dreadnoughts share growth. That is a workaround for the 1.5 version of the mod, it’ll be reworked later.
Q: The music is bad/strangely suits. Why did you use the PvZ2 music?
A: Well, it was some sort of placeholder in the first versions of the mod (along with Rogues and Bandits, who just replaced Mechanics/Engineers that time). But when the official Factory came out, I didn’t like its music, I felt that Wild West theme from PvZ2 suits the town better (plus, my Factory came out more outlaw and Wild West styled, due to Bandits, Gunslingers and Saloon (the Gunslinger dwelling)). I had read some suggestions from YouTube comments, but I didn’t like both of the tracks suggested.
