Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Standalone mods
The Heroes of Might and Magic 3 standalone mods page showcases fan-made overhauls and expansions that can run independently of other mods. You’ll find projects like Horn of the Abyss, Legacy of the Silence, The Succession Wars, and Master of Puppets, each adding new towns, creatures, artifacts, gameplay systems, and visual overhauls.
- Horn of the Abyss (aka HotA) – is an unofficial Heroes of Might and Magic 3 expansion. It is made by a mostly Russian composed crew with various talented people. The expansion features – to name a few things – a completely new Cove and Factory towns with campaign. HotA fixes bugs, adds a host of new expansion content, features an updated editor, online lobby – and much more.
- Heroes Launcher (platform) – Heroes Launcher is the successor of the popular ERA 3 Launcher. In its new version, it will offer you much more and with easy installation of modifications. With a few clicks you can install ERA 3, HotA, HD mod, MoP, VCMI or the Might and Magic Arcomage card game.
- Project Heroes Chronicles – mod for Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Complete and Heroes Chronicles that brings all of the Chronicles chapters into one place with fan made Glory of War chapter.
- Exiled Kingdoms mod – is a total conversion of Horn of the Abyss. All 9 original factions have new creatures and new heroes in their army, some town screens have also changed graphically.
- Forge town mod – Stronghold was replaced by Forge. It’s based on Polish Forge for VCMI, but it has some small changes compared to orginal. Also puzzle map is not repalced. Except of that everything shoud work fine. Works only with Hota v1.5.3.
- The Succession Wars mod (ERA 3 based mod) – is a total conversion of Heroes III dedicated to the fairy-tale atmosphere and graphic style of its prequel, Heroes II. The modification adds a lot of new content, such as creatures, castles, and artifacts to name a few, and provides fresh gaming impressions as well as a great amount of nostalgic feelings at the same time. The SW mod is only compatible with HD mod.
- Master of Puppets (aka MoP) – is a total conversion of Heroes III, initially based on WoG, featuring 200+ new artifacts, 7 new spells and 2 new secondary skills, 80+ new creatures, new map objects with unique events, creature banks and more.MoP isn’t compatible with HD mod. ERA 3 Launcher will help you quickly install and run Master of Puppets.
- Legacy of the Silence (ERA 3 based mod) – LoS mod features 13 New towns (no replacement) with full unit line up and heroes, 8th alternative units for each town, 9 new spells, 2 new skills, 9 new war machines, 90+ new artifacts. Guaranteed stable random map play with up to 22 factions. 30+ whole new unit ability appears. The current BETA version of Legacy of the Silence version is not a mod for new Heroes 3 or WoG players.
- S.T.A.L.K.E.R (ERA 3 based mod) – Heroes 3 total conversion.
- Forgotten Fields (ERA 3 based mod) – the modification brings a lot of new things, but also a lot of bugs, I only recommend it for testing.
- Project Heroes Chronicles (Heroes Chronicles mod) – is a mod for Heroes 3 Complete and Heroes Chronicles that brings all of the Chronicles chapters into one place! There is a new user interface which allows the player to select and launch whichever chapter they wish to play, including the fan made Glory of War chapter.
- Legend of the Red Dragon (Standalone mod) – No longer in development.
- Mythology mod (Standalone mod) – the Mythology mod brings 10 old-new towns into the game. Mod is based on Horn of the Abyss, so even a pirate Cove is available. Mythology town replaces Dungeon.
| Do not forget that for mods to work, you need to own the original Heroes 3 version, preferably the version from GOG.COM. | |

| ⚙️WoG Folder is online source of HoMM mods I’ve discovered over the past decade. It’s regularly updated, and all mods are neatly organized. The WoG Folder also contains various goodies like the “Did you know?“ series, artworks, manuals, meme collections, and more. |
