As a lifelong fan of HoMM 3, I can’t help but get excited about LunaDice’s Kickstarter project: Heroes Chess. This isn’t just another fancy chess set — it’s a love letter to one of the greatest strategy games ever made.

Each piece is modeled after the iconic HoMM 3 creatures (Tower and Dungeon): dragons, minotaurs, golems, trogys, gremlins… — all reborn in beautifully detailed metal designs that transform a classic game of chess into an epic battle straight out of Erathia. Just looking at the miniatures feels like stepping back into those unforgettable adventures on the battlefield.
Sure, the price tag is high, but I honestly believe this project deserves to succeed. There are so many of us who grew up with HoMM 3, and I’m convinced that this chess set will find its home among passionate fans and collectors who want a tangible slice of nostalgia on their gaming tables.
And for those who don’t want the full set, it’s possible to order the figures individually through Kickstarter, which is a great option for fans who simply want their favorite HoMM 3 creature on display. The only thing I personally miss is a dedicated chessboard to match these beautiful pieces — that would have made the set truly complete.
