On the battlefield, every unit takes up just one hex – whether it’s a mighty Black Dragon or a humble Peasant.

Unlike in Heroes III, where each creature had only one upgrade, in Olden Era every unit has two alternative upgrade paths. You can freely switch between them in your town — no cost required.

Sulfur is no longer among the resources needed for town construction. It has been replaced by Alchemical Dust, a new substance that can be used not only for building upgrades but also for enhancing artifacts.

When picking heroes from the Necropolis faction, keep an eye out for a fun little easter egg! If you rearrange the letters in Tarius, you’ll get Iratus — the undead lord from Iratus: Lord of the Dead by Unfrozen. Even their portraits share the same look!

Need more Alchemical Dust? Just open your hero’s inventory, select an unwanted artifact, and dismantle it to gain a bit of extra dust. Nothing goes to waste in Olden Era!

Building higher-level town walls doesn’t just strengthen your defenses. In Olden Era, upgrading to Wall Level II or III also increases creature production — just like the Citadel and Castle upgrades did in Heroes III.
