Stormbinders – new fantasy strategy game inspired by HoMM series

It looks like the past few years have been a real treat for fans of turn-based strategy games in the style of Heroes of Might and Magic. We’ve had the popular Songs of Conquest for a while now, along with Silence of the Siren—essentially Heroes in space. And of course, we can’t forget the upcoming HoMM: Olden Era.

Brand new game was revealed by Slitherine, titled Stormbinders. I’ve been promised that as soon as it’s possible, I’ll get access to test the game. I’ll share more videos after that. Could this be a serious competitor to HoMM: Olden Era?

Developed by Destructive Creations and Innominate Games, Stormbinders is designed to bring back nostalgic players to classic turned-based dynamics, while adding new, innovative surprises. It blends classic tactical turn-based battles with broader and deeper strategic map exploration in a fight for survival against chaotic magic storms. The gameplay is set as an homage to the Heroes of Might and Magic series.

Its unique, randomized storm system adds a new layer of strategy to every encounter. Each time the game is launched, the weather dynamically changes on both the global map and the battlefield, creating fresh challenges for players. Combats unfold on a classic hexagonal battlefield. Success depends on army composition, positioning, and casting powerful spells while considering the enemy’s strengths and weaknesses.

Gathering resources is a key aspect of Stormbinders. Players must manage them wisely to construct buildings that enhance their kingdom’s power, gaining an advantage over enemies as they progress through the campaign.

Stormbinders features a wide variety of units from different factions. Players must recruit and carefully select a balanced composition of units to overcome their enemies on the battlefield.
