The island nation of Nighon lies to the east of Antagarich, just across the Nighon Strait. It is inhabited mainly by creatures that dwell underground and navigate easily through the darkness and the labyrinthine tunnels that crisscross the island. These tunnels are home to all manner of beings such as troglodytes, minotaurs, harpies, and other not-so-friendly creatures.
The first known ruler of the island was the lich Emperor Mederon. Later, the Dragon Queen Mutare seized complete control of Nighon’s armies and launched an invasion into Erathia and AvLee.
In HoMM 3, this land is represented by the Dungeon faction, which is why this castle always starts underground. Nighon and Eeofol joined forces and, using the vast network of underground tunnels built by their armies, reached deep into the heart of Erathia and captured the capital city, Steadwick — an event depicted in the opening intro of Restoration of Erathia.
In the Armageddon’s Blade expansion, during the Dragon’s Blood campaign, Mutare — a talented commander of Nighon’s forces — drinks a Vial of Dragon Bood and transforms into the Dragon Queen, Mutare Drake.
- Capital city: None officially, though sometimes the city of Death Kiss, where Mutare drank the dragon blood, is considered its de facto capital.
- Former rulers: Emperor Mederon, Queen Mutare
- Last ruler: Tarnum
- Inhabitants: Troglodytes, minotaurs, humans, harpies, and other subterranean creatures
- Neighboring realm: Eeofol
