⚙️WoG Folder is online source of HoMM mods I’ve discovered over the past decade. It’s regularly updated, and all mods are neatly organized. The WoG Folder also contains various goodies like the Did you know?“ series, artworks, manuals, meme collections, and more.

How to install: Download the archive and unzip it to your PC. Open “[Gameplay] Third Upgrade Mod v3.1.x.zip” folder and copy “ResOunD” folder to Heroes 3 ERA “\Mods” directory. Activate via Mod Manager or install/update this mod via Heroes Launcher.

Third Upgrades mod v3.1 changelog:

Added:

  • Json translation has been added for the mod.
  • TUM Dragon Utopias now have 4 sizes.
  • Rotten Dragons Valley now have 4 variant graphics that distinguish in the sizes from guards and rewards!

Removed:

  • HotA Objects such as Coliseum of the Magi have been removed because third parties mods fulfill that purpose.
  • The Dwelling Banks have been removed, as well as their option.
  • Zaobjcts.txt and objcts.txt have been removed to transfer them to JSON for greater compatibility between WOG and other mods as well as to avoid conflicts.
  • Removed other unnecessary files from the version prior to 3.0.

Changed:

  • All Creature Banks have already been transferred to JSON with slight changes and improvements as they were initially.
  • Rebalanced Tartarus Fiend; Gate Infernals was removed due to a huge imbalance, instead, now they summon Pit Master of fallen units.
  • Rebalanced Sharpshooter Elves; removed the skills “reduces Defense” and “Shoot Close” by Stack Experience because it produces an enormous advantage over original Sharpshooters.
  • Blue Tower and Lava Spit graphics were retouched.
  • Retouched “Ultimate Dragon Utopia” graphic, and now it will be called “Legendary Dragon Utopia”.
  • The cost of the Third Upgrade Dwellings have been reduced, this in order to help to promote the competitiveness of the AI.

  1. the game is crash when battle, try for 2days now find out is directly crash when shooter try to aim the creep… is fully crash when mouse point to creep when shooter turn. Can fix it?

  2. Can I ask if there will be an upgraded level of the Ice and Fire dragons? Both creature looks pretty cool and strong, and the game definitely needs these kind of special monsters to keep it even more interesting as long as possible. The Ice dragon may evolve to Sapphire (with about 4400 HP), and the Fire to Ruby dargon (with about 3800 HP). Although it’s true, these dragons already exist in a Might & Magic game which I never tried yet, just recently explored.

  3. Hello. The problem is with building improved level 8 units in the city. Unimproved ones are built without problems, but even if absolutely all buildings are built, the improvement of level 8 units is not built, no matter what I do. In the options of the game there are items regarding level 8 creatures. I have had this problem for a long time, since the moment when the 3rd improvement of units received the ability to be built separately instead of one common building, as it was before. From that moment on, I do not have improved level 8 units, despite the update of new versions that were released. Even deleting and reinstalling the mod did not help.

  4. There is a bug where if you have TUM 3.1.6 and advanced classes mod 1.094 you can sometimes buy all upgraded creates even with basic non-upgraded buiding.
    With advanced classes mod disabled problem disappear.

    1. ACM shouldn’t interfere in the building/hiring process in any way. You can try the newest TUM version 3.1.6, maybe it has improved.

      1. Another Issue I encounter. That the dwelling upgrading that incrementally improves the creature spawns each week does not work since the introduction of the upgradable castle. Maybe this is overriting something?

  5. I just want to thank you here for finding the solution to speed up the AI. It’s became only 9-10 second even if there’s the max amount of hero on the map. I couldn’t believe this at first. It’s just… too good to be true.

    The only flaw in this beauty is that some unexpected crashes occur from time to time, which never happened before. But probably it’s already a known issue. It mostly happens when I just literally watching the map and doing nothing significant beyond scrolling. I’m on Ver.3.1.6 btw, although I also download the ERA/WOG updates constantly.

    But leaving aside this negligible bug report, I’m really impressed.

    1. Probably happened something in the last major change, because now the AI’s turn became worse. Now it almost takes forever.

      But I just jumped back to the 3.1.3 version and I probably will keep it forever, because it seems to be perfect. The AI’s turn already faster (reduced to 20 sec) and there is no crash either. This version should be a kind of restore point.

  6. I know it’s hardly possible, but I wish there was a solution to speed up the AI’s turn even more. I play on large custom maps with max opponents where each of them buy about 7-8 heroes. Yeah, except the first turns, it’s about 40 seconds waiting time or even more. Around the 3rd month’s turn it gets a bit frustrating.

    1. The only way to speed it up is to disable the Dimension Door and Fly spells, as well as any artifacts that may contain these spells, because that’s what slows down the AI ​​the most.

      1. Thanks! Yea the Dimension Door is turned off. I even disabled the Town Portal, and made the enemy’s speed invisible, but it seems nothing really helps if there’s about 50 hero on the map. Yeah, it seems like a lot, but actually that’s a normal amount on those maps I play.

  7. Greetings. I have encountered such a problem, as I have realized so far, that the new artifacts do not work, but why do the rest of my objects not appear. Even barracks with new creatures don’t appear. Of all that the mod offers, a couple of new buildings appear on the maps and that’s it. I’m sorry if that’s because of my poor English.

  8. I’ll write it briefly again, as I’m not sure my last reply to my previous post went through the security check. But I just tried things out a bit in the scenario, and it seems that this mod having trouble loading the larger maps. Especially the ones with too many objects.

  9. I made a large custom map, a pretty good one. But with this mod it crashes even at the loading screen. Actually in the 3.1.1 version I managed to fix the problem when I turned off ERA scripts. But once it was updated to version 3.1.2, this no longer helps anymore. About 19 times out of 20 I have crash at the loading screen and I have no idea what could be causing it. Ony this mod has this problem with the map.

    1. I just hastily tried this mod with some normal (factory) maps as well, and the result was pretty much the same. It seems that the larger the map I choose, the less likely the game is to load with this mod.

    2. Hi, this is probably because the new version does not support the new artifacts that were in version 3.0. If you used one on the map, this may be the reason for the crash.

        No, I’m not using them. But I was just trying things out a bit more, and it seems it’s map size issue. Larger the map and more objects it has, the game less likely loads with this mod.

    Has anyone had a similar problem after starting a new map, a random 2 buildings in every town is being blocked which is preventing from having lvl 3 upgrades for some towns?

  11. Have been looking for an answer to the following for a good while.

    In towns, the infos for the Marketplace, Tavern and Res.Silo say they must give additional income – 500, 200 and 1000. Makes sence: firstly, one need more to build more buildings with all those 3rd upgrades, secondly, these resource buildings themselves cost now more what assumes they must give something back for that).
    In TUM Enchanted everything is OK. MP, Tavern and RS give us as defined.
    But in TUM they don’t. I think it’s a nasty bug.
    I don’t think I use some mod that prevents it: I use only basic graphics or basic gameplay ones.
    Now I use a roundabout with TrainerX [Cheat], but this is very unhandy.

      1. Thanks!! And I’ve been experiencing another serious bug (if so). Creature specialists (CS) feature to add %health to their proteges won’t work since first loading a saved game.
        I’ve tried everything: disabled almost all other mods in MM, (un)checked every combination of WOG-options (like Hero Spec. Boost, Rebalanced Hero Abilities and so on), started a game with checked no WOG-options at all — nothing works. So I think the problem is not on my side.
        The result is all CS are close to be useless as “mainable” heroes, good only for “chain army transfers” or mill/garden collectors.

        Resumed: health stats bonuses from CS in TUM are shown and working until you save a game for the first time; then, being loaded, they vanished, and even rebooting the game won’t bring it back.

  12. still cant cast spells in battle, the bock icon is empty, even bot cant cast, cant learn spells from town, but I can cast spells like town portal etc. just need scrolls or artifacts that give me spell, but in battle no spell can bee cast. At least bot cant cast them also 🙂

        1. spells still don’t work, removed it reinstalled the mod spells don’t work, and you cant learn spells from the town.

    1. Not just spells but every artifact not working thats probably the problem because the spellbook is categorized as an artifact if i remember corectly

  13. FYI the Necropolis third upgrade zombies and spectres are swapped. Zombies currently upgrading to the spectre and spectres upgrade (downgrade) to zombies.

    1. I am looking into the same question. Because I would like to be able to run both since there a lot of positives from both.

  14. Is it possible to make it where artifacts added in the Third Upgrade Mod can be found in places like Artifact Merchants or normal dragon utopias? It makes getting certain combo artifacts much more difficult or impossible, as many times these artifacts will never naturally appear.

  15. 1 баг. вышел с корабля и сразу попал на нейтралов. в бою проиграл. загрузил сохранение, чтобы другим героем расчистить путь для высадки второму герою от нейтралов. Увидел что мой герой находится на воде, а корабля нет. Сильным героем убил нейтралов и героем, который был на воде прошёл на сушу, а корабль исчез.
    2 баг. личи убивают облаком тёмных паладинов (существо 8 уровня).
    3 баг. командир может воскрешать нежить, но не может воскрешать всадников мёртвых рыцарей (существо 6 уровня)

  16. I’m getting 3 types of errors running this mod:
    1 – Clicking on the spellbook crashes de game
    2 – IA sometimes crashes the game while casting a spell during combat
    3 – Getting an error about ERMHOOKER at the beginning of the match

    So far I had to unnistall it. Waiting for a fix

  17. Any chances that in the latest update you could add a option in wog options that we can choose what kind of 8 tier creatures we want?

    Notice that in the latest update you have change Werewolf with Dark paladins (Necropolis) and Dreads with some kind “spring spirits”. (rampart). It’s a nice touch but i would prefer the old set.

  20. Are updates still being done for this mod? Is the Emerald plugin causing slowness ever going to be fixed for this mod? I am genuinely interested in the mod, but it’s almost unplayable unless I disable emerald, which given that’s where the new artifacts are, it does diminish the experience some.

  21. Greetings. I have the last era3 but I received a message that is not installed. I ve extracted the contents of era 3 (era 3 only, I am not using the new launcher) in the H3 complete folder, extracted 3upMod. How the mod is checking? Do I need to modify a value, something? Much health!

    1. If you don’t use Heroes Launcher (you can install TUM there with one click), you still have to activate the TUM mod via Mod Manger. You can find it here: Heroes 3 ERA / Tools / Mod Manager / and run mmanager.exe.

      1. Hello. Thx for your response. I get the error when generating random map “You have to install the last era 3.1.5 etc” The mod is on, on mod manager. But I have era 3.5. Dunno why the 3upMod is not reading the current version of era.

        1. I managed to solve it, so here’s how:

          1. Download and install the latest ERA 3.9.5 version.
          2. Then go to the GitHub page where development continues: https://github.com/ERA-Projects/era-project-eng download era-project-eng (on the right click on “ code” and select Download ZIP)
          3. Unzip era-project-eng-main.zip and copy (and rewrite) all files to the folder where you installed ERA 3.9.5
          4. This way you have the latest version available, which is the 3.9.14 version

  22. Hello!

    I want to play this mod on macbook. Installed H3 complete – OK. Installed ERA 3.9.5 – OK. Copy the TUM 2.20.8 version ResOunD folder to H3 complete/mods folder. What more i need to do? Game started well, WoG options are okay, but nothing about TUM.

    What did i wrong?

    1. Hi Gábor, did you really manage to run ERA 3 on a Macbook? Could you give some more information/instructions on how you did it?

      You have to activate TUM via Mod manager. You can find it here: Heroes 3 ERA / Tools / Mod Manager / and run mmanager.exe.

  23. After the last update AI turns takes more than 1 minute starting from day 1.

    Deleting human AI mod changes nothing. I have tried diffrent option, nothing helps.

    The game is now unplayable.

    1. Version 2.18.2 is stable. current vesrion of mod makes AI ultra slow.Creator is trying to fix it .For now it seems it is better to get veriosn of mod before recent update

  24. Sadly… The new update 2.20.2 does not repair the “long turns” bug.I have disabled the Human AI and didn’t help.The only way to fix it is by disabled the “emerald 3_3.era” in plugin manager.
    But doing that… you don’t have the new artifacts.

Every few new updates produce “the almost endlessly long AI turn”. 2.18.2 was OK, 2.20.1 same problem again, when disable “emerald3_3.era” plugin – game is once again playable, but that means you won’t be able to use certain features. I don’t know if it is a wide spread problem or just personal one, but i had no problems for months before updating to 2.20.1 and now i just switched back to 2.18.2 to eliminate the problem.

  27. Hi, please help me figure it out.:
    During the construction of an improved building (right click on the town hall), the new building does not appear on the general visual plan of the city, but it works (upgrades become available). Is this how it should be?

    A similar story with the eighth creature: Also, the building is under construction, hiring becomes available, but the building is not visually displayed in the city. I also don’t understand how to improve this creature. It doesn’t have an upgrade button, although all the buildings in the city are built. How to improve, where to click? The ‘a’+ left button does not work.

    I also wanted to mention an error that occurs often but not every time:
    To play it, you need to go to another city from the city window without going to the global map, using the button in the column of available cities.

    And finally, the mod somehow breaks the script for the universal improvement of creatures.(an option that allows you to upgrade creatures from other cities if there is an improved building of the appropriate level in the current city).

  28. Hello. This is very nice and fun and interesting mod when I play it. I love this mod. But some units I feel like it is too weak, some units too strong for me. Can you tell me which file I can edit those unit stat?(like Attack, HP or speed)

  29. With TUM v2.18.2, you can upgrade troops to third upgrade without building the third upgrade building. All you need is the regular per level upgrade building, and you can then upgrade that level troop to third upgrade, by holding the ‘a’ key and left clicking on the stack in town.

  30. I can conform this games crashes. I have the latest launcher, wog and HD mods installed and tried it out with several wog.dat files. The game functions normally but somehow this mod makes the game crash whenever you enter combat.

  32. hello there, it seems there’s a bug about combo artifacts (especially “new” combos such as Golden Goose, Ironfist of the Dark Palladin,etc.): even if i had all necessary components, it can’t be combined … any idea for fixing it ?

  33. TUM v2.18.1 seems to have fixed the crashing issue.
    However, as of the latest ERA 3 update on 4/6/24, the game now runs at a slideshow pace, with the AI heroes moving one step every 2 or more seconds.
    Not sure if this is due to a new AI script, a new pathfinding algorithm, or a bug, but the game is unplayable at this speed.
    I’m all for an AI update if that’s what you’re going for. But for now, the game is unplayable.

    1. Update to this, I discovered that the cause of the AI slow down is the “emerald3_3.era” option in the Plugin Manager options under ResOunD.
      If you select it, it will cause the AI heroes to run incredibly slowly.
      Unchecking it fixes the issue, although this issue only showed up with the latest update, it was fine before that.

    1. What version of ERA 3 Lencher do you have installed? Send a screenshot of the mod manager, we’ll see if you have a conflicting modification there (admin@heroes3wog.net)

          1. I cannot even start a map without saying “Third Upgrade Mod out of date”. When I deactivate TUM the game works.

    2. Same issue, go into battle and the game crashes. I have everything updated to the latest versions.
      I reverted to Third Upgrade Mod version 2.17.0 and everything is working again.
      There’s definitely something wrong in TUM v2.18, or an incompatibility somewhere.

  35. I just wanna say that you are absolutely amazing, this is such a great mod. Also I wanted to ask if you happened to fix that the third upgrades for some reason have low/no army strength value? When I have all third upgraded creatures and I fight pixies they always want to fight. If I have first or second upgrade they will run. I just want to be able to use diplomacy haha

  36. when i try to start a game it shows two options and it says that the third upgrade mod is out of date. I tryed reinstaling it and things like that but idk help.

    1. Check what version you have installed, the latest and current version is 2.17. If you don’t have it, download it.

      Delete the old version and install the new one.

  37. Avast flags the main exe file as idp.alexa.54. Well it happened after installation, and mod seems to be running okay, but still you could check this.

  39. This mod doesnt work for me!! i installed fresh copy of GOg game, then era launcher, then i donwloaded this mod , its enabled on list but nothing appears i game!!

    i ddint see any option to turn on script ingame scripts menu!! also scripts menu, first page has only a few options to enable, unlike many years ago where they were way more options

  41. Hi this is amazing piece of work. I have question though in terms of balancing I always wondered why not equalize the shooters between towns? i.e. I am missing one more shooting unit in rampart and fortress a lot. What are your thoughts on some changes in this area?

  43. the mod is amazing but what sucks about the fact that you’re forced to use all of its features you can’t disable monsters/objects/artifacts
    it would be amazing if you get to choose what to add up to your games and what to disable I would love to have the chance to upgrade my game progressively with the new added creatures/objects/artifacts

    1. ofc you can disable certain features, like new banks or artifacts. You just don’t know how.
      Artifacts for example can be disabled by disabling the Emerald plugin in the mod manager for TUM.
      New banks can simply be deleted (or configured) the config in Resound/Data/s folder or you disable the replacement of objects in WoG options.

      Anything else that sucks? 😛

When i fight an enemy hero with 3rd upgraded creatures (most of the times it happens with dragons, but not only) lets say i have a stack of 30k skeletons and i do only 1 damage to this creature. As only way of defeating this kind of situation is to use spells and hope to have enough mana but some dragons,for example Chasm, are unaffected by spells. Can you tell me where i go wrong? Is this some wogify option i clicked but shouldn’t? But i don’t think this is normal as when i have same 3rd upgraded creatures they dont’t suffer just 1 damage when enemies hit me.

    1. can you send us a save file from that game? Also make sure you have patched the launcher to most recent version

        I played another map and rewrited battle and autosave from the problem map.

        But here is an example i did with touched “unleashing the bloodthirsty” i added 2 heroes with 3rd lvl upgrades and normal creatures set up for battle to take many turns. After some turns you will notice normal creatures will do 1 damage to upgraded ones. In the beginning nosferatus for example will do some damage but with turns it is going to be reduced to 1dmg, same with skeleton knights (where acid breath will become the only thing that does damage when procs and skeleton warriors will do as usual 1dmg). The picture contains all the mods i have enabled and disabled.

        More than decade ago when i played clean wog mod and actually with early days of era there was no problem, now i have multiple crashes per map and not only during enemy turns , so i have to save more often.

        1. okay, I most likely found the problem. It is the New Spells mod, please play without this mod, currently it causes the problem you described. After that your random crashes and the 1 damage problem will much less. But you must start a new game.

            Thank you for your contribution and keeping this game alive, back in very early 2000s we played 1pc hot seat as kids in Eastern bloc, more than 20yrs later we can play this with our own kids, thanks to people like you, who modernize the game.

  45. It seems Living skulls are still not being generated when WOGifying maps with TUM. They fixed the issue on ERA last year, but with new(er) versions it still seems it’s not generating any “Living Skulls” around the map.

    1. LE: not sure if it’s TUM influencing Living skull from generating. I have disabled it and it’s still not generating in ERA

    Is there a patch note for the new version? I see the Gnolls marauders are now upgraded to Centagnolls instead of the very much useless Gnoll Shamans is that so?
