Here at last is my very first collector’s edition—and it was worth the wait. Yes, I know Heroes VII has been out for over a year now (and we even got the Trial of Fire DLC), but I just couldn’t bring myself to shell out €99 for the deluxe box. Then I noticed Ubisoft Store still running clearance sales, so I snapped it up for a bargain €26—and, while I was at it, added the Dwarven-themed Trial of Fire DLC for just €10.20.
No physical box for the DLC, unfortunately, but who’s complaining? Consider it my belated Christmas gift.
The star attraction of the collector’s edition is the 26 cm figurine of Heroes VII’s main character, Emperor Ivan Griffin. You even get an alternate headpiece—complete with helmet—to swap on the statue, as shown in the photos. As usual, the package includes the full soundtrack, a set of postcards, a tarot-style card deck, and a 96-page artbook that’s leagues beyond the one in the Brute’s Den edition of Heroes VII.
Of course, there’s also the game itself, packed with exclusive in-game bonuses: a new scenario plus the legendary hero Solmyr from Heroes III. And as if that weren’t enough, I even scored one more special surprise bonus—which I’ll reveal at the end of this post!
