The new version of the Pumpkin Patch includes a change to the RMG generation rules, allowing any creature banks to spawn on any terrain! On top of that, new graphics (made by Aphra u/Phasma_AFK) for Pirate Caverns, Crypts, Ruins, Gardens of Revelation, Hill Forts and Ivory Towers have been added!

How to install Heroes 3 Horn of the Abyss step-by-step

INSTALLATION: Install Horn of the Abyss. Download the archive with the Pumpkin Patch, extract it and copy all the files to the Horn of the Abyss installation. Overwrite the files. If you play HotA often, I recommend making a separate installation for Pumpkin Patch. Run HexSwapper.

On top of that, a number of balance changes have been added, such as increasing the health bonus from the First Aid skill or improving the movement of heroes with slow creatures in their army.

Spells

• [-] Moved the Dimension Door to all schools of magic. Mana cost increased to 40/35. Advanced level of any magic allows casting Dimension Door twice.
• [-] Reduced the cost of Fortune, Misfortune, Mirth and Sorrow, by 2, 3, 3, and 4 mana respectively.
• [-] Slow’s mana cost increased to 12/11.
• [-] Blind’s mana cost increased to 20/18.

• [-] Updated the map Sir Mullich’s Charge to an Impossible difficulty, with appropriate fights, and added a number of new quests, including a quest-line specific to a new hero added to the map.

Game Mechanics

• [-] Altered the movement table, so that now the movement on the adventure map for armies with units of speed 10 is 1950, and each point of speed below that corresponds to 50 movement points per day.

HexSwapper

• [+] The 1hero setting additionally increases the default scouting radius by 2.
• [-] The 1hero option additionally includes scouting (+2 default radius) and view air (+1 default level) changes.
• [-] Changed the HexSwapper option to revive Wraiths instead of Wights.

Secondary Skills

• [-] Expert Ballistics now lets the catapult shoot three times
• [-] Increased the effect of the Expert First Aid skill to 20%.

Artifacts

• [-] Ring of the Magi has been downgraded to Minor class.
