This game has an identity crisis. The game is trying to ride on the popularity of HoMM3, the most beloved game in the series still under active development by the Horn of Abyss team. The main audience is Gen X and Millennials.
But the graphics are like from a Gen Z of a mobile phone game, which I find extremely off putting. I’ve been playing HoMM3 since 1999, and neither I nor anyone I’ve talked among my friend to like the graphics.
I had some hopes that they’d change course, but in a recent interview, the producers doubled down on their “artistic choices”. So, I’m definitely not buying this game.
I’ve read some excuse that the graphics are the way they are because they didn’t or couldn’t hire some good artist, but only some cheap one with a mediocre ideas what looks good. And that artist probably worked on mobile games only.
I’m also surprised like you how short sighted these developers are thinking this art style is OK, its definitely not.
It makes their game look like a cheap mobile port on PC.
That’s some pretty stupid shit, where did you read that? Give me a link.
