The upcoming turn-based strategy game Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era has finally revealed its sixth playable faction — Schism. This mysterious faction draws heavily from the eldritch horror tradition of H.P. Lovecraft, with its high-tier creatures recalling the legendary Cthulhu both in theme and design.
According to developer Unfrozen, the Schism faction will bring “otherworldly powers” to the world of Jadame, introducing mechanics centered on unavoidable damage and control over abilities—adding a unique and unsettling strategic layer to the battlefield.
The Schism faction in particular offers a chilling departure from existing fantasy armies—representing “Altered Elves and Eldritch Abominations,” according to the Steam store description. The revelation of this faction was officially made on August 21, 2025.
With its eerie aesthetic and Lovecraftian inspiration, the Schism faction promises to inject a fresh and haunting dimension into the Heroes of Might and Magic series.
Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era is a new installment of the renowed series of turn-based strategy games, where action takes place in Enroth, on the continent of Jadame, mentioned but never explored in a Heroes of Might and Magic game before. Planned Release Date: Late 2025 – Early Access.
