An enhanced version of Heroes of Might and Magic 4. Unlike other mods,Ultimate version preserves all factions as they were in the original game. Now with more abilities and spells for creatures and heroes alike. This also includes more map objects, a graphics overhaul and filtering. Additionally, there are remastered campaigns for the original H4 and both of its expansions.
Heroes 4 Ultimate 9.4 update changelog:
- Removed 5 dll files from the Plugins and the Mods folder
- Removed H4 Chronicles campaigns of all original and edited variants (Including mentions in patch notes)
- Even more fixes and balancing in Ultimate-Tutorial map
- Fixes and improvements in the pre-map on Erutan Revol Remastered Campaign
Heroes 4 ULTIMATE update installation:
- Install GOG version of Heroes 4 Complete
- Download Heroes 4 Ultimate mod
- Unzip archive and copy contents of the MAIN folder into your H4 folder
- Double click on “[patched]H4_Ultimate.exe” to launch the game!
- Use the H4_Ultimate_cheats for a version with a cheat menu, that lets you get any creature to the army selected from the adventure view, amongst other things
- Edit maps with the Ultimate Editor. Hundreds of new objects and brushes are at your fingertips
So far there has been modified:
- 200+ hero portraits
- 100+ creature portriats (73 in both 82 and 52 px)
- Spell icons
- Over 40 new map objects! (most desert themed)
- 10+ new usable spells!
- 5 previously unused abilities for creatures!
- 4 reskinned creatures
- Full HD wide-screen variation of the main menu with vivid colors!
And much more of course…
Any way to still get the chronicles campaigns to play with this?
If you mean Heroes Chronicles for Heroes 3, then those are not playable in Heroes 4.
I get instant CTD if I attempt to start a new game in either Gathering Storm or Winds of War, right before I should see the list of campaigns.
Anybody experienced it? Not sure how to solve it.
You have to tell me what CDT means first, because I have no idea.

Indru, were you running the game with this exe file: [patched]H4_Ultimate.exe ?
Why is it at version 9 now and still most maps just say “File is bad”. I’ve been waiting 4 years now for this dumb mod to finally be playable. And then there’s the executables, why would I use patchedhereoes5.exe? That’s NOT the Ultimate Mod. You might as well not use this mod if you’re not going to use the Ultimate executable. All the hero and unit edits are gone without the Ultimate executable. This is bananas. This whole project feels like a mudslide of a mod. When are these awesome edits going to be anything but a waste?
umm i just installed this.. i cant load zanfas’ challange from either the scenario screen or the z web folder both say the file is bad! i dont know about other files i have only tried one and it loaded properly i dont know why this one is not.
This will probably be your problem, you will find the solution described in the folder Help folder:
The map you are running is probably not compatible with Heroes 4 Ultimate.
I just downloaded it and you are not alone i tried like 15 maps already and every single one of them “is bad” and i see no solutions on this thread or anywhere else when i tried googling h4 ultimate
i guess the mod is just useless if you literary cant play the damn game because “is bad” or how @Liso1 said “map is incompatible” then why even make it? if it cant even play any of the maps even in the updated map folder its the same issue? this looks like h4ultimate “is bad” at this point….

Hello, where can I find the cheat menu? I just can’t find it. [patched]Start H4_Ultimate_cheats_V8.43 and then?
The cheat menu only appears, when you make your screen to windowed mode (not fullscreen). Here you can acces some basic cheats on the top of the window!

I cant see “[patched]H4_Ultimate.exe” in MAIN folder. Only “original”, “Ultimate_cheats”, cheats, Heroes4.exe etc.
Which one is correct?
