Heroes 3 VCMI towns list

Currently, there is a large number of new towns—or factions, if you prefer—available for VCMI. Some of them are nearly on par in quality with the original ones from Heroes of Might and Magic III, such as the desert-themed Pavilion, the Courtyard, or the sci-fi Forge, while others turned out a bit less impressive 🙂

With VCMI, you can easily try them out, and best of all—you can mix and match them, or even have all new towns active at the same time, and the game will still work just fine.
Mods can be downloaded and installed with a single click through the VCMI launcher.

What is VCMI?

VCMI is a complete remake of Heroes of Might and Magic 3. It’s a new engine built from the ground up, utilizing the original game’s graphics, sound, and text assets. This allows VCMI to achieve near-perfect compatibility with the classic gameplay of Heroes 3 while offering the technical benefits of a modern engine.

Everything in VCMI is rewritten from scratch, including game file loading, graphics rendering, AI, and core mechanics. The project aims to not only integrate popular features from beloved community mods like HotA, WoG, and HD Mod, but also explore exciting new possibilities in all aspects of the gameplay experience.

What does “VCMI” stand for?

VCMI is an acronym of the Quenya phrase “Vinyar Callor Meletyo ar Ingoleo“, meaning “New Heroes of Might and Magic”.

  1. I was very enthusiastic with VCMI…till I noticed it was NOT compatible with the most important mod…HD MOD. How the hell is it still possible to play on a 4K 32″ screen with a 640*480 or 800*800 resolution from the original game ? Are you guys playing on Android or something ?

  2. HI, i downloaded and it worked perfectly fine after after a week it stopped working (the luncher wont open)

    1. This is really strange, open the windows task manager and see if the launcher isn’t running in the background, if so, close the application manually and try to start it again.

  3. But how many of them are really complete? I’d love to play them, but not if they are missing essentials.

    1. No town is 100% completed, as the VCMI is not completed and some elements cannot be implemented. But many of them are in very good playable form, such as: Fairy, Haven, Factory, Court, Grove

      1. Good to know!
By that you mean all of the structures are working fine? I mean i think i’ve seen a few of them with all working structures.

  4. after following the whole process to install the game, get vcmi and copy the folder and adding the “factory town” I thought my life was about to be amazing but as I launch the game through the vcmi launcher this is what I get.
    Starting…
    VCMI 0.99 (client)
Creating console and configuring logger: 31
The log file will be saved to “C:\Users\Utilisateur\Documents\My Games\vcmi\VCMI_Client_log.txt”
    Initialization: 78
    Data loading: 938
    Mod handler: 0

And it doesn’t go any further.

Any help or recommendation? I feel like Im so close!
    Thanks
